Entries are being sought for the annual Sparta Independence Day Parade, which will be held on Saturday, July 2.
The parade is scheduled to pull out from the parking lot at Sparta School at 4 p.m. and travel down Main Street, ending at Trojan Village Shopping Center, said organizer Bob Bamberg, executive director of the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce. In recent years, the parade has been held at 11 a.m. “The later time was less disruptive to the traffic patterns in town,” he noted.
Grand Marshals for this year’s event include two World War II veterans, Odell Crouse and Ernest Edwards.
Bamberg said entries are being sought for the event, which will be part
of the town’s “Old Fashioned Celebration.”
