Board of Education to request about $2 million from county

The Alleghany County Board of Education on May 4 approved a proposed $1,975,163 local fund budget request to present to the Alleghany County Commission.

Section of trail to open

The newest section of the Mountains to the Sea Trail will be dedicated on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the large picnic shelter at Doughton Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
