Satterfield dies at 76

The developer of Olde Beau Golf and Country Club in Alleghany County died April 17 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Billy Satterfield, 76, had been living in Bermuda Run in Davie County, another of his developments. Satterfield battled state officials for several years over Olde Beau, which was named after his pet bulldog (now buried on a hill overlooking the golf course), before finally completing it in 1991. Satterfield and several original partners later sold the course and development to Curt Kennington and Billy Packer. He was also a well-known developer in Forsyth.

Satterfield’s obituary appears on page 10A.
