A former Sparta resident living in North Wilkesboro was killed in a car accident Monday night, according to a draft report filed by Trooper J.E. Gooch the N.C. Highway Patrol.
According to the report, Roger Lee Neugent, 36, was traveling east on state road 2355 at 7:51 p.m. when his 1997 Ford Class II vehicle entered a curve at an unsafe speed.
The vehicle entered a curve at an unsafe speed and travelled off the
right shoulder and struck a barbed wire fence, the report said. The
Ford then continued through the fence and struck a utility pole and
flipped numerous times, ejecting the driver. The Ford finally came top
rest facing west, while the driver came to rest a short distance away.
According to the report, Wilkes Emergency Medical Services responded to
the scene. However, Wilkes Medical Examiner David Culler could not be
reached by presstime. Funeral arrangements were incomplete on Tuesday.
