Recreation surveys to begin

Local residents may be getting calls this week from a research firm doing work for Alleghany County’s Recreation Department, said Recreation Director Amy Pardue.

Pardue said the calls will begin today, Thursday, and could continue for up to two weeks.

“The company, KPC Research, will be making up to four attempts to contact each number that they’ve randomly selected with the goal of 400 completed interviews,” said Pardue.

The four attempts will be made only if the number has not been reached on earlier attempts, said Pardue.

The purpose of the survey is to collect as much information as possible to help plan current and future recreation plans. “The company will be asking questions to determine what current recreational activities are being used and which ones residents would like to see,” said Pardue.

“It’s very important that we get as much participation as possible to help shape our future plans.”

Each person selected for the survey will be asked to participate for about eight minutes on average. All interviews will be conducted by professionals, said Pardue.

Caller identification boxes likely will show “KPC Research” when the survey callers dial in to local residents, said Pardue.
