A Sparta attorney was hired to represent Alleghany County at a brief meeting on Feb. 25.
Donna Shumate, who has a private practice across from the County Office Building on Main Street in Sparta, was selected by the board after an interview process.
Several local attorneys applied for the job, said County Manager Don
Adams. “Four attorneys, including three with offices in Alleghany
County, applied for the job,” Adams said.
