The 38th Annual WCOK (1060 AM) Heart Fund Auction started off a bit slower than last year, but still had a good showing, said organizers.

“We had a total for the first Saturday of $5,414,” said Virginia Setzer, who serves as chairperson of the event. “It was a little slower than last year because we didn’t have as many call in contributions and pledges as we usually do.”

The bid items sold for a total of $2,871, while contributions totaled $2,543.

“You do the best you can and nothing else can be expected of you,” said Setzer.
