Margaret Crouse was honored on Jan. 27 as a 2004 Main Street Champion at the North Carolina Main Street Annual Awards Dinner in New Bern.

Study ranks Alleghany 47th on property taxes

Alleghany County ranks near the middle of North Carolina’s counties in terms of tax burden placed on its residents, according to a study released on Jan. 20 by the John Locke Foundation’s Center of Local Innovation.

Heart Auction to begin this weekend on WCOK

The 38th-Annual Heart Fund Auction on WCOK (1060 AM) will begin this Saturday, Feb. 19 from 9:45 a.m. until sign-off. The station operates from morning until just after dark.
