Live Nativity

Local youths gathered at Trojan Village Shopping Center last Saturday to portray the birth of Jesus Christ in a stable through the familiar nativity scene. The scene was sponsored by the Alleghany Baptist Association. Gathering to see the newborn baby in the scene at right are (standing, from left) wise men 11-year-old Matthew Braxton, 14-year-old Josh Braxton and 12-year-old Andrew Hawks and shepherd Stephen Mabe, age 7.

In the foreground are Jesus’ mother Mary, portrayed by 14-year-old Ashley Hawks, and father Joseph, portrayed by 11-year-old Jonathan Mabe. In the photo at left, Mary (played by Hawks), rides in Trojan Village on Chico, a donkey led by Bob Richardson, who also took the part of a shepherd.
