Local school board and county commisson candidates are going to be on hand for a meet the candidates event planned for Oct. 14 at the Alleghany High School Cybertorium.
The event, set to begin at 6:30 p.m., is being sponsored by the local branch of the North Carolina Association of Educators. The public is invited to attend.
Board of education candidates to be on hand include Faron Atwood, Sonia Joines, Joel Souther and Roger Wood.
County commission candidates include Tom Douglas, Gary Mabe, Ken Richardson and J. Warren Taylor.
As an additional to help voters make informed choices, The Alleghany
News mailed out election questionnaires on Monday to all local
candidates. The replies, due in by Oct. 15 at 5 p.m., will be printed
in the Oct. 28 edition of the newspaper. The general election is set
for Nov. 2.
