Area likely to be impacted by remnants of Hurricane IvanWhile many uncertainties remain about Hurricane Ivan as of presstime Tuesday, one thing is for sure: Alleghany County will be impacted by the storm.
Frances soaks AlleghanyClose to eight inches of rain soaked the area on Sept. 7 and Sept. 8, leaving the several low-lying areas flooded and closing 12 roads — three until further notice — as the remnants of Hurricane Frances passed through Alleghany.
