Back-to-back months of flat economic performance in the state's western region indicate a shift toward a weak economy, according to the Western Economic Index and Report.
The WNC Index, registering 109.1 for the past three months, reveals the regional economy is weaker than previously reported. Recent data revisions from federal sources contributed to the unexpected gloomy report.
But the stalled economy does not mean the region is heading back to a
recession.
