Sparta School and Alleghany High School received their highest honors to date when the N.C. Department of Public Instruction officially released statewide ABC scores Aug. 5.
Glade Creek School and Sparta School both were named Schools of Excellence.
For the first time, Alleghany High School has been named a School of Distinction. Of the students taking the test, 83.4 percent scored at grade level.
Glade Creek School and Sparta School received performance composite scores in the 90 percentile range, Glade Creek scoring 90.7 percent and Sparta scoring 90.4 percent.
A negative that was seen in the report was for the first time for Piney Creek School. PCS was named a School of Distinction, falling one-half point to 89.5 percent on grade level. PCS was rated a School of Excellence for four consecutive years.
In comparison to the previous year, each school, with the exception of
Piney Creek, had a slight increase in its performance composite.
