A Sparta man was listed in fair condition at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as of midday Tuesday, still recovering from injuries he suffered in an assault on July 9.
Carlis Paul Whitaker, 48, was found by passers-by on Atwood Street after being assaulted by a wooden stick about two feet long, according to warrants.
Sparta Police Department Officer Tim Bartlett said he was planning to
interview Whitaker for more information on the case on Tuesday.
