Attendance was up for the 25th-annual New River Shrine Club Specialty Vehicle Show, but the number of entries was down this year. Shriner's Secretary Cliff Phillips said that about 133 vehicles were entered in the show. That number was similar to last year's entry numbers of around 145.
"It still was a good turnout for entries,” he noted. "There were three other car shows that day. I guess everyone saw it as a way to make money, but they probably didn't realize how hard it was.” However, the number of spectators was increased this year.
Phillips said about 500 people attended the event in all. One of the Shriners who was responsible for totalling the funds for the show was ill, said Phillips. "We may not have the totals together until the end of week,” Phillips said.
Results for the show will be printed in next week's edition.
