The community was able to step back into the past on July 10 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Alleghany County Fairgrounds. There, visitors saw items on display including a 1940 John Deere tractor and a 1929 Maytag washer.
The Alleghany Antique Power Club held an antique farm equipment show and auction. The tractors on display included John Deere, Case, Farmall, Oliver, Allis Chalmers, Ford, Massey Harris, International and Panzer.
Coordinator Barry Irwin said about 75 paying people came to the event. After paying the necessary insurance, the club cleared $187, all of which was donated to the fairgrounds to assist maintenance and further expansion.
Irwin noted that other individuals assisted him to help the show
"come together," including individuals are Ben Bottomley, Steve Dixon, Lynn
Choate, and Walter Lee Hampton.
