New vet hired at Twin Oaks clinic

When some children are asked what they want to be when they grow up, to get them to pin-point it may seem an impossibility. Christina Law, however, knew exactly what she wanted to do. Law began working as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Twin Oaks Veterinary Hospital, located on U.S. 21 North near Sparta, on June 1.

"It's something I've wanted to do my whole life. It really is exactly what I wanted to do. As soon as I was old enough to work, I was working in vet hospitals. Before that, I was trying as hard as I could to run around with farmers and stuff just to be around the animals and learn stuff about them. It's just always what I've wanted to do. Sort of a calling, I guess. I never lost interest, I fell in love with the whole thing."

Growing up in Durham, Law graduated from N.C. State, where she received her bachelors and attended veterinary school. She graduated from veterinary school this past May.

"I found the ad for this practice...it was actually an ad that Dr. (Lori) Pearlman here had written up for the place that said I'm hiring a new vet. We had a book of job openings and stuff at school and I came across it. I've always wanted to get as close to the mountains as possible. I also wanted to work in a mixed practice. I wanted to do a little bit of everything. I saw the ad and gave them a call, set up a time to come and visit with them, stayed here for a few days and fell in love with the place and everybody here and what they did." Prior to coming to Sparta, Law lived in Raleigh.

"Raleigh never looked so good as it did in my rear-view mirror. It was a good change from Raleigh. I can't stand the city. I'm happy to be out in the country."

Law rotates as part of a three-member team which includes Dr. Lori Pearlman and Dr. Nash Williams.
