In the photo at right, Officer Donnie Brown of the Sparta Police Department
demonstrates the proper use of a child safety seat to Vanessa Pruitt of
Glade Valley. Brown is nationally certified as a child safety seat
technician. Brown and Justin Bowers of Surry County EMS performed 18
inspections last Saturday in the parking lot of the Cash and Carry
building on Main Street in Sparta, and gave away six child safety seats
to replace ones that were recalled or damaged.
