In the photo above right, water rushes through the parking lot at Miles Companies after a deluge of rain on Tuesday afternoon. At left, a truck drives through a stream of water near the entrance to Trojan Village Shopping Center.
The flow of water slowed traffic on U.S. 21. A total of 2.15 inches of
rain was reported at the weather station at the Upper Mountain Research
Station in Laurel Springs between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday. While no
major flooding was reported countywide, several minor incidents,
including a washout on Maple Street in Sparta and damage to U.S. 21
near the Little River Bridge where a paving repair was recently
completed, were reported. In addition, a tree reportedly fell across
Andrews Ridge Road as a result of the heavy rains.
