Alleghany County and other plaintiffs in a lawsuit against Bristol Compressors have opted against filing an appeal after a jury in Wilkes County court ruled in favor of the defense.
The county and its partners in the suit detailed their plans for divvying up the funds that were awarded to the county, about $1.3 million. In a detailed chart given out by County Manager Don Adams at Monday night's commissioner meeting, figures show that the plaintiffs only ended up with $308,445 to divide between them according to an earlier interlocal agreement.
The jury awarded the local entities $1.3 million, but Bristol had
already paid $440,000 to the county. Under the settlement, the county
still owed Bristol an additional $348,200.
