A Sparta man is facing numerous charges after local authorities searched his home and found large quantities of cocaine, marijuana and firearms.

Stevie Allen Feimster, 45, of Carson Boulevard was arrested on Monday by Det. Lt. Wayne Crouse of the Sparta Police Department. The action came after probation and parole officers initiated a search of Feimster's home after receiving a call from Grayson County, Va. Virginia deputies said that Feimster and another man, 41-year-old Darrell Gene Harold of Millers Creek, attempted to steal items from Cardinal Stone on Edmonds Road in Galax, Va.

Feimster was already on parole from an earlier attempted murder conviction. He had recently been released from prison after pulling 15 years of a 50 year sentence.

Employees came in at 6:07 a.m. Monday morning and found them there, according to Grayson County Sheriff Jerry Wilson. The two had tools and a heater and were attempting to steal them from a building, he noted. Both men were armed.

While both men were armed, only Feimster pointed his weapon at the employees of the stone company, the sheriff indicated. Both men then left the stone company.

Later that same day, officers arrived at Feimster's home in Sparta, they entered the dwelling and found Feimster sleeping. Feimster was subject to searches at the discretion of local probation and parole officers without a search warrant due to his status as a parolee, said authorities.

Inside the home Feimster shared with his wife, Terri, authorities found more than 60 grams of cocaine, three pounds of marijuana and numerous prescription medications, said Crouse. Also found were firearms and paraphernalia, such as scales and glass smoke pipes, and cash.

Also participating in the search were the Alleghany County Sheriff's Department and Chief Greg Pratt with his K-9 unit from Stokes County. Harold was charged by the Grayson County Sheriff's Department with attempting to steal items valued at $200 or more belonging to Cardinal Stone and breaking and entering at Cardinal Stone while armed with a deadly weapon, both felonies.
