Alleghany students will be going to school on Monday, March 22, instead of having a day off for parent-teacher conferences. But parents will still have to go to school too — conferences will also be held that day. School will be held until 1 p.m. and parent-teacher conferences will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Alleghany schools also plan to hold classes on Monday, April 5, a day that was originally part of a week-long spring break.
Those changes were approved by the Alleghany Board of Education at its March 3 meeting. The changes to the calendar were made to make up days missed due to snow and ice.
Superintendent Duane Davis said this week students have missed 12 days
as of Monday. Schools were dismissed Tuesday at 11 a.m. due to snow,
but Davis said Tuesday he hopes the required number of instruction
hours have been met without an additional makeup day.
