Happy New Year - Alleghany County's first baby of the year, Memphis Gage Baker, was born on Jan. 2 at 11:58 a.m. His parents are David Alan Baker and Kelly Faye Baker of Sparta.
Memphis weighed eight pounds, two
ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Alleghany Memorial Hospital and
several local businesses typically offer gifts to the year's first
child.
