READING FUN - Assistant branch librarian Sherry Clodfelter of the Alleghany County Public Library reads to youngsters at Free Worship Christian Day Care in Sparta from a book titled "My Outrageous Friend Charlie" by Martha Alexander. Clodfelter was making her monthly visit to the Sparta day care for the "Read To Me" program on Monday morning. Read To Me visits include reading aloud, singing songs, showing film clips and bringing books from the library.

The day care center's director, Linda Bare, said that having these visits provides a number of benefits for the children, including enjoyment, learning and expanding their attention spans. In the photo at right, Clodfelter reads from a storybook titled "Benny's Pennies." Clodfelter also visited Little Faces Day Care on Monday morning.
