For just a few hours, Piney Creek's Deerwood Park recently let go of its secluded, tranquil mountain atmosphere and opened its doors to the world of commercial advertising.
Developer Mario Gonzalez allowed grocery retailer Harris Teeter to film a set of television commercials at his Deerwood Park development. Gonzalez said that one of Harris Teeter's advertising executives stays at Deerwood during leisure visits to Alleghany County and brought up the idea of filming there.
The commercials began airing last month and feature Harris Teeter's mascot, "The Rancher," played by South Carolina resident and actor Russell Smith.
The commercial promotes a special giveaway, where shoppers shop 10 of 12 weeks, spending $40 each time, and receive a free slow cooker. The commercials are airing in a major portion of the southeast, including North and South Carolina, and parts of Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
Grocery Chain Harris Teeter uses the spacious kitchen at Deerwood
Park's Lodge to film TV commercials currently airing in a seven-state
region.
