Reynolds' lawsuit filed against AMH is settled

While one of two lawsuits over the death of Jackie Dean Reynolds remains pending following last week's mistrial, parties have resolved the other lawsuit.

Mark Reynolds, Jackie Reynolds' son and administrator of his estate, initiated both lawsuits. He was suing Alleghany Memorial Hospital, Dr. Thomas Douglas Murray, physicians assistant Donna Reeves, New River Behavioral HealthCare and Carol Elizabeth Miller Holcomb claiming wrongful death.

That suit was resolved in the last few weeks before the other suit initiated by Reynolds — against Alleghany County Sheriff's Department officers Michael Sawyers and D.R. Dickens — came to trial. Attorneys filed notices of voluntary dismissal of the claims against New River, Holcomb, AMH and Reeves in September, while a similar dismissal of the claims against Murray was filed Oct. 13.
