Angelou meeting is tonight

AngelouEconomics is slated to be in Alleghany County tonight, Oct. 2, for two special meetings.

The firm is performing a Comprehensive Economic Development Study (CEDS) on Alleghany and eight other western North Carolina counties. Both meetings will be held at the conference room at the new Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation office on U.S. 21 south.

The first meeting, set for 5:30 p.m., will be a by-invitation-only meeting for ministers. That meeting is limited to Alleghany County ministers.

Then at 7 p.m., interested members of the public at large are invited to attend a presentation of "Target Industries and Benchmarks for Alleghany County."

The presentation that will be given was first made on Aug. 14. However, concerns over the topics of conversation and comments that were reported in the newspaper created some controversy.

In order to help increase public awareness of the material included in the presentation, local officials scheduled another meeting. Public input on the presentation is invited.
