Paducah, Ky. - A former resident of Alleghany County died of multiple stab wounds at a Kentucky campground after an apparent altercation Sunday, Aug. 3.
Connie Morgan, 38, died of multiple stab wounds. She last lived on Murphy Bend Road in Ennice. Charged with her murder is 50-year-old Michael Taylor of Benton, Ky. Taylor was still at the scene of the murder when police arrived.
Chief Deputy Terry Long of the McCracken County Sheriff's Department said it is not clear how long Morgan had been in Kentucky. He noted that the most recent address he has for her is Alleghany County. The camper her body was found in had been parked at the Fern Lake Campground for about two weeks. He also noted that he had no idea what the nature of the relationship between Morgan and Taylor had been. "About 1:15 p.m. on Sunday we received a call to a local campground — it was called in as a disturbance," Long said. "When we arrived, we found a male and female in a camper. The lady was unresponsive to medical attention."
She was pronounced dead at the scene by the McCracken County Medical
Examiner, said Long. Morgan's cause of death, according to an autopsy
conducted Monday, was massive blood loss due to multiple stab wounds.
Long described the situation inside the camper as an altercation that
involved a knife.
