The Alleghany County Transfer Facility on Dan Osborne Road will be temporarily closed for three days in August for ‘tipping room floor' repairs.
The facility will be closed from Aug. 14 until Aug. 16 and will reopen on its regular schedule on Monday, Aug. 17.
The floor of the ‘tipping room,' which is the area where local
residents deposit their garbage, has worn down over time, County
Manager Don Adams told the commissioners at a meeting on July 21.
The floor, which is classified as a suspended floor, was made more
difficult to repair by nature of its design. "We didn't want to do
anything detrimental to its weight load (capacity),' Adams said.
