The state dismissed a felony assault charge against Francisco Gordillo last week.
Gordillo, 25, of Sparta, had been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury over an alleged stabbing incident in mid-June at his home.
Gordillo was accused of stabbing 42-year-old Lisandro Nocumendi, with whom he shared a house on Farmers Fish Camp Road, in the chest with a folding knife.
Nocumendi was treated for injuries at Wake Forest University Baptist
Medical Center in Winston-Salem, initially listed in critical but later
upgraded to stable condition. Nocumendi was released from the hospital
a few days after having surgery.
