The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life will be held this Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21, at Woodruff Field.
The event begins at 6 p.m. on the 20th with the opening ceremonies, including the survivor's walk and the kid's walk.
"Any survivors who wish to walk with us are asked to contact Norma Richardson to register," said Ellen Wright, co-chair of the event.
"Children can walk in memory or in honor of a loved one with cancer and should contact the Alleghany Partnership for Children to register by Thursday (today)."
The event will feature a number of activities for the public and the teams that are walking. Michelle DeBord, the other co-chair for the event, said children's events have been expanded to include Ann Marie Anderson and "Jingo."
"The Male Revue will perform at 7 p.m., followed by a cake auction.
