At right, the Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) open their spring concert with "Soldier's Joy," a traditional bluegrass favorite. A crowd of about 50 gathered for the performance, held May 19 at Crouse Park. Although no rain fell during the concert itself, the group of about 40 fifth through eighth grade instrumentalists, along with their instructors and assistants, gathered under or near the cover of the Crouse House porch as a precaution.
In the photo at left, the guitar section helps close the show with "Keep on the Sunny Side;" the audience was invited to join in singing that Carter Family standard. The JAM concert also
included "Amazing Grace" and "Sail Away Ladies."
