A number of men and women currently deployed with the armed services for the war with Iraq have direct ties to Alleghany County. At least six families in the county have sent close family members to serve their country overseas.

A package from home...
Items are being gathered for Alleghany residents stationed overseas during the Iraqi war and you can help. The deadline to drop off items is April 18.

Drop-off Point:
Take items for soldiers in the current war, in sealed original
packages, to the Alleghany School Board Office on Peachtree Street
prior to the deadline date.
