Patsy Jarrett had retired at the end of last year from a 35-year career in banking.
"I had no plans of going to work," Jarrett said. However, the Alleghany Memorial Hospital Foundation needed a coordinator. She said George White, chairman of the foundation board, contacted her about the position. "I put a lot of thought in it before I said I'd accept it," she recalled.
Jarrett officially became foundation coordinator Feb. 17. "It's exciting because it's different from what I've done before," she said. "I certainly know the benefit to the community. The hospital expansion is something that's needed."
Her responsibilities in the part-time (24 hours per week) position
include organizing and administering AMH's fundraising endeavors,
including the hospital's annual golf tournament along with any capital
campaigns.
