The Sparta Police Department is looking for leads after a break-in occurred at Halsey Drug Store over the weekend.
"We are asking for help in identifying a person or persons and/or a vehicle that might have been involved in a breaking and entering and larceny at Halsey Drug Store on Main Street," said Det. Lt. Wayne Crouse.
Crouse said the incident occurred sometime between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Saturday night (Feb. 15) or Sunday night (Feb. 16).
Crouse said that the perpetrators gained entrance to the front doors of the store by forcefully removing the lock from the outside door and then breaking the glass out of the second set, or inside, doors. The incident was reported to police by business owner Chuck Byers on Monday morning, Crouse said.
The suspects stole a number of prescription medications from the counter shelves. Crouse said the drugs taken would require a valid prescription from the doctor to acquire otherwise.
