Due to an error, the estimated amount of the average flood insurance policy was listed incorrectly in a story in last week's edition of the newspaper.
The story stated that the average premium during the emergency phase would be about $400 per month. However, the story should have said the coverage will cost an average of about $400 per year.
The coverage is available to everyone in the county, but is only required for those who have mortgages and are located within the FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) designated flood hazard area.
The county was officially enrolled in the National Flood Insurance Program on Dec. 23 of 2002.
