Preparations are at full tilt for the 36th annual Alleghany Heart Fund Auction which begins next week.
And while many perennial helpers have re-enlisted for this year's effort, there is ample need and opportunity for more local residents to join in, as the auction is an event which calls on the entire community to help fight America's number one cause of death.
A yearly tradition the last two Saturdays in February, the Heart Fund Auction is slated for Feb. 15 and 22. Held at radio station WCOK, the auction will be broadcast on that station (1060 AM) from 9:30 a.m. until sign-off (around 5:30 or 6 p.m.) both days. The auction can also be heard on local cable television channel 8 (audio only). Listeners may call in bids.
Popular Items Return
Virginia Setzer, the auction's chairwoman since its inception, noted that items available at this year's auction feature some recurring favorites.
