Christmas tree crop is of higher quality in ‘02

While recent bouts of cold and rainy weather have been less than comfortable for local residents, Alleghany County's tree crop has flourished.

While some damage to the crop was reported earlier this year when a late cold snap in May killed new growth on some trees, those trees that were not damaged will be of better quality than in some years past. On the other hand, there may be fewer available trees, according to local Cooperative Extension Agent David Isner.
