Alleghany Memorial Hospital's Chief Executive Officer Jim Yarborough has announced he will be leaving the hospital to pursue other opportunities. The hospital announced the move in a news release on Tuesday. "Jim Yarborough recently made a personal decision to resign his position....," said the release.
AMH Board Chairman John Miller said in an interview Tuesday that Yarborough has been a boon to the hospital.
"He's really helped a lot over there," said Miller. "He's been with us eight years and I think we've improved in every facet of the hospital." Miller said the culmination of those improvements can be seen in the expansion and improvement project that is currently underway.
Miller said Yarborough will be missed both personally and professionally. "We wish him every luck in his new endeavors," he added. "He did us a very fine job."
Miller said he does not expect any changes at AMH as Yarborough steps down. "Things will go on as they have and we still have the (construction) work to finish," said Miller. "If everyone will bear with us, we will work through this and continue to have the finest little hospital in the country."
Quorum Health Resources of Nashville, Tenn., a division of Triad Hospitals, is contracted by AMH's board to manage the hospital and was thus Yarborough's employer. Quorum provides management for more than 200 hospitals.
Quorum has announced that Joe DePew will serve as AMH's interim CEO beginning the first week of December and will continue to serve until someone has been appointed to fill that position.
