No major changes were reported last Friday when the Alleghany County Board of Elections released its final, official election results. The action came after the votes had been canvassed by the board.
Elections Director Karen K. Fender said Tuesday that no one had challenged the results by the deadline of noon that day, therefore, no recounts were planned in any race.
Several close races were on the ballot, including the county commission race, in which at least one seat of the three up for grabs was decided by fewer than 50 votes.
Meanwhile, members of the local elections board said they were very pleased with the work.
