Several Halloween events set
A variety of Halloween-related events are coming up in Alleghany County.
At least two local churches are sponsoring "Hallelujah Night" events,
slated as a Christian alternative to Halloween.
Trick or treaters will be out in force on Oct. 31 in the town and county,
as the annual event falls on a Thursday this year. Trick or treaters are
generally encouraged to stop visiting homes at 9 p.m. each year.
Local Events
Glade Creek Elementary Parent/Teacher Organization is holding a haunted
house in the school gymnasium on Oct. 26 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Games,
prizes and contests for youth will be featured.
Laurel Springs Volunteer Fire Department will hold a haunted house at
the fire department Oct. 25 and 26 from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.
The Alleghany County Chamber of Commerce is planning a Halloween dinner,
dance and costume party at Burgiss Barn in Laurel Springs on Nov. 2.
Reservations must be made to the chamber by Oct. 25 and each person must
pay $25. A dinner and beverages will be provided. Any proceeds will be
donated to the chamber.
