The extra draw of bright fall leaf colors was missing at Stone Mountain State Park Saturday, but the 12th annual Old Fashion Day there still drew a near record crowd of about 10,720 people.
There were more craftsmen and other features than ever, complimented by a musical lineup that included the Kruger Brothers from Switzerland as headliners for this free event.
There were over 40 different vendors and other features, up from about 30 last year.
Ranger Greg Church of Stone Mountain State Park, leading the team that organizes the festival, said it was promoted better than ever this year in the media.
Church said that in addition to crafts, heritage demonstrations and live music, people enjoy the event because it isn't crowded and it's held in a beautiful setting.
Although most of the visitors were from the Wilkes area, said Church,
the event drew people from across North Carolina and other states.
