Three parties in the lawsuit over the Alleghany High School gymnasium floor have, in the last few days, filed answers to claims against them.
The Alleghany County Board of Education is suing T. Greene Plumbing Company and Gulf Insurance Company. Greene was the plumbing contractor for AHS' new east wing, which included the gym, and Gulf issued the performance bond for Greene's work.
Greene's Sept. 3 response to the suit included counterclaims against the board and third-party complaints against James R. Vannoy and Sons Construction, the general contractor for the project, and Orkan Architecture, the project architect. Those complaints made Greene a third-party plaintiff and Vannoy and Orkan third-party defendants.
The latest series of filings includes Gulf's answer to the lawsuit, filed Oct. 10; Orkan's response to the third-party complaints, filed Oct. 11; and the board's reply to the counterclaims, filed Oct. 14. Gulf denied liability.
