Correction

In last week's article about the Sparta Town Council considering a joint water treatment plant with the town of Independence, Va., Sparta Town Manager Tom Douglas was incorrectly quoted as saying the project would cost about $73 million. In fact, the $73 million price was given as the cost of a planned regional water system for southwest Virginia, in which the town of Independence decided not to participate. Douglas said the cost of the Sparta/Independence water plant could be as little as about $4 million to $5 million.
