Gearing up for the Fair

At left, Fair Volunteer Alice Keighton helps place canned goods in a display at the Alleghany County Agricultural Fair Monday. Numerous volunteers helped with the effort, placing goods and decorating the building.

In the photo at right, fair judge Matthew miller of Carroll County, Va. looks over the lambs of several entrants show in the intermediate ewe lamb class in the livestock barn on Tuesday night. Showing their lambs are Jade Bullins of Stokes County, Madison Little of Jefferson and Bridgette Sturgill of Piney Creek. Numerous other events and livestock shows are planned all this week, including an ATV rodeo tonight and old timey competitions Saturday followed by the lawnmower race at 7 p.m.
