The board of Alleghany Fairgrounds Inc. has made an offer of an undisclosed amount to purchase the property of Max and Judy Armentrout.
"We have made an offer to purchase the property," said Genia George, president of Alleghany Fairgrounds Inc., the non-profit organization that manages and operates the fairgrounds facility. Even though the Justice Carlisle Higgins Fairgrounds is owned by Alleghany County, the site is managed entirely by Alleghany Fairgrounds Inc. George said the group is not funded in any way by the county. Funding for the fairgrounds comes through events, donations and fundraisers.
"If our offer is accepted, then we will definitely need to raise money in the community to help make up the cost of this purchase," George said. "We will need everyone's support."
George said that she could not reveal the amount of the offer because the deal is not closed.
