Fatal wreck — Local emergency workers aid the victims in an accident last Saturday morning. A local woman, Kay Henderson of Reynolds Road, died in the wreck.

Sparta woman killed in accident at intersection of 18 and bypass

A local woman was killed and three other people were injured after a Virginia woman apparently failed to stop at an intersection and struck a van at full speed at about 8:30 a.m. last Saturday morning, according to a report filed by Sparta Police Lt. Rex Wyatt.

Killed in the accident was 55-year-old Kay M. Henderson of Reynolds Road in Sparta. Henderson was a passenger in a 1997 Dodge van that was being driven by Corine Marsh Bare, 52, also of Reynolds Road. Also injured in Bare's vehicle was 28-year-old Angie Bare Sexton of Sparta. Both Bare and Sexton were treated and released the day of the accident.
