Ambulance rates will increase

The Alleghany County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a revised fee schedule for Alleghany EMS ambulance service, including increasing several charges to help boost revenue and reimbursements.

The move came at the request of EMS Administrative Supervisor Linda Edwards, who told the board that new Medicare fee schedules have been implemented since April. The new schedules will allow the county to recoup more of its costs from providing the service, Edwards said.
