Four members of the Alleghany County Board of Commissioners agreed Monday night to table a vote on the proposed subdivision ordinance until all five members of the board could be in attendance.
Not at the meeting was Charity Gambill, who had to be out of town.
Chair Ken Richardson said he wanted the board to have everyone in attendance prior to the vote being taken.
The meeting was later continued until May 13 at 3:30 p.m. The newly revised ordinance included several changes brought about after several concerns were raised at the last board meeting by local residents and real estate agents.
County Planner Jack Conaway reiterated Monday that the ordinance is a public safety ordinance and should be viewed as such.
After handing out a revised ordinance, Conaway reviewed the changes, which were highlighted in the new ordinance.
Conaway said the ordinance should help insure quality roads into the county's future. "Paramount to this ordinance is the standard for new roads to be constructed in this county."
