AHS senior pursues effort to show Ten Commandments

A senior at Alleghany High School is pursuing an effort to place a display including the Ten Commandments at the school.

Brandon Anderson is working on a proposal which he hopes to present soon to the Alleghany County Board of Education. The board discussed the possibility of displaying the Ten Commandments during its meeting last December. Members generally agreed they would like to see such an exhibit but hesitated to become the target of a potential lawsuit.

Board Attorney Fred Johnson then agreed to report back to the board later with more information.

In deciding to take up the cause, Anderson said he talked with Johnson, AHS Principal Jeff Peal and Pam Caudill, sponsor of the 121 Club (as in witnessing "one-to-one").
